The LA-based director has always been a creative soul, and he was able to express that through his work with big names like Marvel, Samsung, Volkswagen, UFC and more. What began as a hobby in his early 20s eventually became an industry-leading career for Zane Productions: a one-stop shop for video production in Los Angeles.

His journey to success was not always easy—he struggled with finding his place in his 20s because he felt like his life was going nowhere. He had reached a point in life where he had no particular goals or life direction—he felt like every day was leading him towards a meaningless existence. But as he explored different things and began directing music videos, he found his purpose: telling stories through film.

“I always thought film was an interesting medium that brings together different art forms in order to tell stories,” said Zane.

Zane was in a transitional phase in his life, figuring out what he wanted to do. He helped a friend make a music video for one of his songs, and that’s when he discovered how much he loved directing. He found out that he had artistic potential and wanted to explore it. After directing his first music video, he started exploring different ways to acquire new projects. He got referrals from friends, asked people around him for work, and even posted ads online using different platforms. Gradually, he started gaining more experience and his portfolio grew by leaps and bounds.

“For me, directing is a constant exploration of my potential as a visual artist”, said Zane.

As Zane’s portfolio grew, so did his clientele. Nowadays he mainly focuses on commercials and music videos—but he still makes time for personal projects like his short film, which he says “required a lot of effort to complete.” The film features talented actors such as Francis Fisher, John Rubenstein, and Amy Pietz.

Zane proved that hard work and persistence do pay off. In 2022, he had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest living legends in the music industry such as The Isley Brothers and Kool & The Gang. “It made me feel like all of the hard work, sleepless nights, and long hours that I’ve invested into building myself as a director and my company are finally paying off”, he said.

While Zane puts tremendous amounts of effort into what he does, even putting in 80 hours a week, he still feels motivated and energized. In the years to come, he plans to keep expanding his company by working on bigger projects, and shooting his debut feature film.
